Up For The Cup Always

This is a site dedicated to the writer and poet Paul Reekie who died aged 48 on 10th June 2010.  Paul was a unique individual, a musician of note, and a person who inspired, provoked and entertained all who came in contact with him.

This site has been set up by Paul’s friends and we’ll try and collate as much material related to Paul’s life and work as possible.  Photos, writing, reviews, stories, music, radio recordings, videos, and whatever else we can find.

If you have any Paul Reekie related material get in touch …

“I first met Paul Reekie some time in the early 90s when I became aware of his heckling every time we played a gig in Edinburgh or Glasgow. He would be standing right at the front in the centre – the same position occupied by Sid at all the early Sex Pistols gigs in London. It would enliven the proceedings no end, and was not the usual brainless fare we had come to expect from a rock audience. It was more what I would call useful advice delivered in a sneering tone.  (Read more here)VIC GODARD

“Paul was more than an author with Rebel Inc.  He was the heart and soul behind the whole project. Paul was completely immersed in the counter-culture – he lived, slept and breathed it like no one I’ve ever met before or since.  Paul was an uncompromising genius, a maverick talent, and, thankfully, he shared his words, his wisdom and his fierce intelligence with all those lucky enough to meet him.  And he was one of the funniest guys you could ever hope to meet.  It’s about time the wider world knew about this unique individual.” KEVIN WILLIAMSON
